Nasya- Head, neck and sinus therapy
Ayurveda explains that the nose is the ‘doorway to the brain’, and the root of consciousness. For this reason, it is important to maintain and monitor nasal well-being if you wish to remain healthy. The goal of Nasya treatment is to promote the health of the body above the shoulders. During the treatment, ‘anu tailam’, a herbal blend containing over twenty different herbs, is applied to the nasal cavity. This promotes release of excess mucus and toxins from the nose. The therapy also aims to clear the respiratory tracts, purifying the senses as it does so. After the anu tailam has been used, another blend, known as ‘ksheerbala 101 avarthy’ is used, which helps to further provide nutrition to the targeted areas. As it is known for its ability to free the body of toxins, nasya therapy is also part of our panchakarma detox program.
Benefits:
As the nose is clearly connected, both physically and energetically to the brain, nasya therapy is often used to enhance mental clarity, making it an effective choice of treatment for those suffering from fatigue, migraines or chronic headaches. Nasya therapy is effective in treating different conditions depending on the body type and dosha composition of the client. For those of Vata body type, nasya therpay may be useful in treating tinnitus, nervous system disorders, dryness, dulled senses, anxiety, nervousness, itching, atrophy, dizziness, insomnia, memory loss, allergies and stiffness. For pitta body types, inflamed sinuses, migraines, anger, jealousy, conjunctivitis, hair loss, toxicity and burning eyes may all be managed with nasya therapy. Kapha body types who suffer from congestion, blocked sinuses, excess mucous production, edema, tumours, convulsions, brain fog or depression may also benefit from nasya therapy.
