The Importance of an Ayurvedic Consultation

Having an Ayurvedic consultation is a critical first step towards maintaining health and balance. Ayurveda is an ancient science that is traceable to more than five thousand years ago. Ayurveda differs from mainstream treatments in offering a holistic paradigm that provides a pathway to living a purposeful life while maintaining your health & peace of mind. Ayurvedic medicine goes to the root cause of the problem.

At the Ayurvedic Wellness Centre, we see health as a total state of physical, mental and social wellbeing, not simply an absence of disease. Our philosophy, therefore, is to heal holistically.

An initial Ayurvedic consultation is an important part of the diagnostic process at the Ayurvedic Wellness Centre. The doctor will carefully analyse your overall wellbeing so they can prescribe the appropriate Ayurvedic treatment for your needs.

What happens in an Ayurvedic Consultation?

The initial consultation with one of our Ayurvedic physicians will be the starting point in your journey to a life of better health and wellness. Our experienced and qualified doctors take the time to assess each client’s individual needs and recommend a treatment to restore imbalances and encourage the free flow of energy.

Once the initial assessment has been completed, the Ayurvedic physician will advise the actions necessary for you to live a healthier life. The advice covers dietary changes, the use of Ayurvedic herbs, recommended lifestyle changes, appropriate yoga exercises for your condition and age, yogic breathing routines and guidance in meditative healing practices. You will also receive guidance on which treatments to take & Ayurvedic herbs you can use at home to balance your doshas.

In the event that Panchakarma is recommended, your physician will prescribe a personalised detox program to flush the toxins from your body.

An Ayurvedic consultation will put the body’s power of restoration and recuperation in your hands. Your physician will leave no stone unturned as they work towards restoring your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The consultation will include a review of your full health history, pulse diagnosis to check for imbalances in the body and an assessment of your Dosha (body type). The doctor will examine all three doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata regulates movement, Pitta controls metabolism and Kapha organizes the structure. Tongue analysis is used to see if there are toxins in the body and where they are. If there are toxins that need to be removed, the doctor will recommend detox.

A consult with Dr Taruna is 60 minutes in length and costs $150 with a rebate being available from some health funds. Prescribed herbs are a separate cost on top of consultation. A follow up consult is usually done after one month. If a short consult, it is 30mins long & cost is $90.
